The abandoned train station hotel
We received photos from a traveler and compiled them into a historical summary.
Today we visit a former abandoned hotel located in the Lozère hinterland. We possess absolutely no information about this place—to the point where we don’t even know the name of the former owner. As a result, we cannot document its history, which is frustrating, to say the least.
It is incredibly difficult to obtain even a shred of information regarding this establishment. We don't even know the exact closing date. We can assume it was around 2019 or shortly before; this could be corroborated by certain comments on vacation rental websites. In any case, towards the end, the place seems to have struggled. This wasn't always the case, as the owner was once regarded as friendly, and the meals as hearty and generous. What led to the downfall of this hotel was perhaps the dire state of the roofs, which must have generated considerable maintenance costs.
Today, what remains is a generally degraded site. Trash cans have been placed to collect rainwater, but they regularly overflow. The rooms are relatively ordinary, though they must have been comfortable enough. As for the common areas, not much is left; most of the contents were sold off during the court-ordered liquidation. This place was discovered entirely by chance, though in truth, it’s hard to miss. I hope you enjoy your visit to this rather vast hotel.
