Urban Exploration - Roger's House

We received photos from a traveler and compiled them into a historical summary.

This is an abandoned house located on the outskirts of a very popular tourist village. The dwelling overlooks the valley in a sumptuous landscape. No one has set foot in there for ages, given the significant difficulties I encountered—notably having to scramble down through mountains of brambles. In fact, I was quite lucky to manage the visit at all.

The visit is frustrating because although it is a large house, only a tiny part was ever used as living quarters. It is very, very, very basic—minimalist, even poor. The living conditions must have been harsh. Old-fashioned, certainly, but today it’s painful to imagine. The laundry is still hanging in the middle of the room, after eleven years of "drying."

A farmer named Roger lived there. He has a surname that is extremely common in this village. With no road to access the house and the path being steep and difficult, one wonders how he managed in his old age.

The last calendar is from 2003; his date of death, 2003. Here, the facts align perfectly. Roger was not in the habit of writing, so we know nothing of his life. On the other hand, his school notebooks show that he had a truly satisfactory level of education.

Today, his house is a ruin because animals get inside. I even found a mummified marten on the floor and the remains of a badger. As Ava would say: "BEKR."

Roger is buried in the middle of the cemetery, in a family vault that is modest but well-crafted.
